Editor’s Blog Archive

2006 July 04: Sweet Freedom

Yes, editors do, on occasion, read writers’ blogs. Scary thought for some of you...

But, before I get to that, to everyone in the USA, happy independence day! Stay safe this holiday season!

Back to blogging... I have noticed that it is fairly common practice for writers to mention (and link to, where applicable) their newly published works. Perfectly understandable, of course.

What is less frequent, however, is for writers to mention (and link to, where applicable) other authors whose stories they enjoy.

So, what I would like to challenge all our reader-bloggers to do (even if you’re not a writer!) is to find a story on ScienceFictionFantasyHorror.com that you enjoyed, and mention, review and link to it in your blog. You’ll be doing both the writer and us (as well as your readers!) a favor.

I will do the same here. I have selected three stories that I think are under-read and under-appreciated, but really good stories. Here they are:

Fallen” by Angeline Hawkes-Craig.

Drifters” by Robert T. Jeschonek.

Tricks of Tikal” by Michelle R. Rasey.

P.S. If you are an author who has been published on ScienceFictionFantasyHorror.com, and you have a MySpace profile, you can now have your profile linked in your author’s bio. Just eMail me the title and URL of your MySpace profile, and I’ll take care of it for you.

Canville Virtual Village
Under Reconstruction...
There was a time when the streets were alive with the sounds of children playing, friends gathering, and adults conversing. When the heat of summer met its match in an ice cream bar delivered by the friendly chap in the neighborhood ice cream truck. Or, a rubbery hose would refresh children with the spraying of water into the air. Oh, how times have changed. Where go the little children now? Where now gather the teens? Where chatter away the adults all afternoon? And, alas, what has become of the lonesome ice cream man?

In today’s fast-paced world, where many suffer from information overload, we offer a retreat from the headaches of the computerized world in our own Suburbs of the Information Superhighway, Canville Virtual Village. Click here to visit the site.

Dan C. Rinnert: Or show two dates. A thread-started date and a last post date...

Lawrence Richards: Perhaps the date column in the forums could show the date of the last post instead of the first.

Dan C. Rinnert: The forums are complete! All that's left is background stuff and testing.

Dan C. Rinnert: I'm not quite happy with the reply method on The Rundown, but it works.
